Mozy for online backups

If you haven’t heard of Mozy yet, I feel sorry for you.

If you’re not using Mozy yet, I feel even worse.

If you’re not going to go sign up for free at Mozy right now, I just think you’re basically an idiot.

Either that, or you’ve never had a computer crash on you.

Mozy does online backups of your computer for free. Yeah, crazy. FREE.

They give you 2Gb of space for free (which is a ton…unless you’re backing up music/pictures/videos) and you can buy more space (right now at least) amazingly cheap.

I’ve been using it for some number of months now and absolutely love it (I think I blogged about it once before). It’s super easy to use and it backs up your data when you’re not around.

Anyway…yeah…if you don’t go use it, you’ll be sorry when your computer crashes.

Mozy is a great service for Windows users. I can’t wait for a Linux-friendly version. Mozy also offers premium accounts if you want more storage space. 5GB is only $20 per year, and you can get up to 20GB. That’s probably pretty overkill for most users, but that’s why it’s premium. :)

Anyway, I’m excited for Josh and hope this product takes off. Those are some smart, hard working guys. The free service rules too.

I’m saving everything I consider important to e-mail, esp. as my computer likes “hanging” on me frequently.

I think that you really can judge people by the way they comment different stuff. Some people, even expressing negative thoughts, are still polite and they respect and understand other people. Some people are not even trying to be nice, they just don’t care. I think self-confident person will always act nice, no matter what other people do

Some folks are running linux and can’t use mozy. Here is a less expensive choice than mozy. Simple sftp server which also offers web access. The beauty is you can use whatever sftp capable client you like. Works with any OS
