Google Video and Porn
Earlier today Chris emailed me a link to a Matt Cutts blog post with links to video seo answers that Matt did.
The answers themselves were normal.
“blah blah, blah blah, blah blah, nothing you haven’t heard before”
What really got me was when I was looking around the page I was on.
See, I have never gotten into the whole video thing online. If I want to watch video, I’ll use my tv with dvr. It just looks better.
Because of that, I had never been to video.google.com.
I’m not linking to it because of the ‘Top 100′ link on the page.
I clicked on it and I wish I hadn’t. Google’s top 100 videos are half porn!
With Google’s “Don’t be evil” motto, I was surprised.
I mean, wouldn’t you think that with google not allowing adsense to go onto pages that are porn related they would do something about the porn showing up on their video site?
It gets even worse. On the homepage of video.google.com on the right side is a “Top 10″. In that top 10 are links to:
- Another Hot Chick - dancing for the camera
- Topless Car Wash
- Spring Break Mishap
- Paris Hilton’s New Music Video
- Girl Pwn
Are you kidding me?

Don’t be too quick. Judge a book by it’s cover an all that.
The topless car wash is a bunch of fat guys–a joke video.
I’m guessing the others are titled to garner a bigger audience.

Amen to above. Of the top 10, none of them qualify as porn that google would block.

But how would I know that? The topless car wash preview looked like girls to me. Was I supposed to watch it to find out if it was pornographic or not? Was I supposed to watch any of them to figure out “Oh, this isn’t pornographic. Google’s really not evil.” I’m trying to avoid the pornography in the first place.

[But how would I know that?] No way to know without looking or having someone else look. It does make you wonder how Google can filter them without watching them. The obviously don’t filter by title, so how do they do it without hiring an army of viewers somewhere. Perhaps they do. Still, they should perhaps review their title policy to avoid the appearance of evil. Perhaps they should ask the question: does traffic justify allowing the use of pornographic or suggestive titles? (BTW - something funning in the javascript on this textbox - it misbehaves in IE)

John,
You are right about Google in this area. Not in the top 100 but in the tail end searches. I have stumbled onto REAL porn on Google video. They have an option to mark the video as inappropriate. But that is just not enough. The porn taggers automate the XXX and Porn tags, there is just so much of it and it is really disgusting. I also beleive Google has slipped here.
I mean if I am not seeing the actual porn I am reading it, XXX and Topless car wash is enough infomration to conjure up images in my head to where I don’t need the actual picture or movie to be offended and to be spirtually wounded.
Google should not allow titles or tags that do the same damage as the images do. All they have to do is apply the same morals to their video as they did to their search and they wold be fine. Its video search websites like these that give online video a bad image.
In fact Google is hurint their image, Seth Godin warned them about this. You can find him giving a presentation to them in a video on google video. Just search for Seth Godin there.

I need help,
I have an app that contains an embedded browser.
Up until recently, I could navigate to Google Video and watch videos within the app.
Now when I attempt to load a video page, the app shuts down, without warning - just ***gone*** - every time.
This doesn't happen with YouTube.com or Yahoo Video, just Google Video.
Something about their page changed recently to cause this. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Hi all,
Who's your favorite porn star or nude model and why?
My favorite nude model right now is Kyla Cole from the Czech Republic because she is perfect in every way and I love her brown hair/blue eye combination.
My favorite porn star is Teagan Presley because she's just hot and dirty.

I’m 100% agree with John with his views:
I mean, wouldn’t you think that with google not allowing adsense to go onto pages that are porn related they would do something about the porn showing up on their video site?
After read his views I felt relaxed that there is also someone in this world who thinks honestly like me. Although their are so many people who thinks and act honestly but less to come across.
For others I wanna tell I believe that “self praise is no recommendation” but here just to express my views I’m saying this. I know google don’t allow porn/warez sites to display adsense in their site but google itself allow everyone to upload any type of shit porn to Google Video since beginning just to meke popularize and also allow half hearted in Bloggers.
