Adsense is Dead! No, Wait…Adsense is Alive! …No Wait…

Adsense is Dead/Alive MP3

With the release of Joel Comms rebuttle, Adsense is alive!, I think I need to talk about what is going on.

I’m doing this for the same reason I do What’s Crap and What’s Not.

First of all, before I say any more, you need to realize that Joel has a 5 figure monthly income from selling adsense lessons. Of course he cares if people talk about adsense being dead. He has a huge stake in adsense working.

Is Joel really making what he says he’s making on adsense? Yes. Absolutely.

Is it as easy as he says for YOU to make money on adsense anymore? No. It’s not.

So what’s really going on with adsense?

The reality is that it’s becoming more and more difficult to make money off adsense UNLESS you have an already established website that is getting a significant amount of traffic.

But…NOBODY is talking about this.

Why? Because there isn’t a bunch of money to be made in selling a product to existing webmasters about how to put adsense on your site. There IS a bunch of money to be made however, in selling to people who want to make money online but who don’t really have anything to start out with.

So, I wanted to respond to what Joel Comm is saying in the “Adsense is Alive” ebook but I didn’t want to type it all out.

In short, I think Joel (and Eric) missed the point of what Scott is trying to say.

In this MP3 I talk about:

  • How Joel didn’t understand what Scott Boulch meant when he said “Adsense is Dead”
  • Why Adsense isn’t dead, for a few people
  • What’s not being told when Joel says that an “average person to make a substantial income from adsense” and why it’s not true
  • Who are the “peers” Joel talks about who are making more money than he is, and why those “peers” don’t apply to the other 99% of us
  • Who is making 4 and 5 figure monthly incomes when they’re just starting out with adsense
  • Why there isn’t a Catch 22 in the Click Flipping/Adsense is Dead model like Joel says there is
  • Why both Click Flipping AND adsense are middlemen (why adsense is actually the middleman of middlemen)
  • What’s different about Click Flipping than about what others have talked about in the past (because Joel is right about this one, that it’s not new, …he just kind of missed the point)
  • Why Click Flipping isn’t just a temporary “tactic” that will come and go
  • What’s the real truth about making money online with adsense

Now, don’t get me wrong and think that Click Flipping is the solution to all adsense problems. It’s just a different way of making money online. It work, but so does selling ebooks, selling membership sites, selling useful software, selling physical products, selling on ebay, writing reviews as an affiliate, …

Nothing will every be as easy as making money on adsense has been over the past few years. It was a get-rich-quick scheme that actually worked. It’s not anymore.

I can understand everyone telling people that it still worked up until a few months ago, but after that, your message needed to change. You needed to tell people that making money online just isn’t as easy anymore and that you’re going to have to do a significant amount of work now.

Click flipping requires a significant amount of work. So do the rest of the things you can do online to make money.

Listen to the mp3 and be careful with what you buy from people.

The “gurus” have had an easy time selling stuff to people over the past few years because what they were selling actually worked. It’s not as easy anymore and a lot of them just won’t stop.

One last thing…a disclaimer: While I don’t actually have anything to do with click flipping and don’t have any vested interest in it, Scott is a good friend of mine and I have helped give him advice on what he’s doing with click flipping. I have been a beta tester of his system, and it does work. Other than that, I don’t have a financial interest in the click flipping situation.

I think the Death of Adsense article are fantastic, and good for you to have the pleasure of knowing Scott peronally. Tell me this: In this article you mentioned being a “beta tester of his system”… Has he been holding this “system” back? Is there a product to help manage the click-flipping process? Can I get in on this sooner rather than later?
    Thanks!

  2. Richard Says:

Nice analysis. I’ve been saying the same thing. Scott’s offered some valuable info, but I think he’s left a few things out too. Like the google slap, landing page quality, boosted AdWords prices and how to deal with them. CPA with PPC is not a beginner’s game. Along with the work, there’s a lot to learn to avoid losing your shirt, pants, etc. Also unless I’ve been misled, some of the CPA networks pay for affiliate signups and have a two tier system. I’ve heard about his system too - also positively. I doubt he’s exactly holding back, but the whole thing has been so well done that it’d be a major shock if there wasn’t a ton of both short and long-range planning involved. Very few tell everything, maybe no one. The difference is what isn’t being told and whether that effects what is being told. In Scott’s case, it doesn’t seem to - if you read what he says it certainly appears to be accurate. Naturally enough some stuff isn’t there - which he said explicitly. The AdSense is alive folks though - it’s a different story. Anyway, thanks for a fascinating post and mp3. Keep on telling it like you see it. It’s refreshing.

  3. John Says:

@Tony - Yes, there is a “system”. It will be released soon. I can’t exactly say when, just in case the date gets pushed back, but it will be soon. Hopefully I’ll get to do a pre-launch email for it before it goes huge. It’s definitely going to sell out.

    Great stuff John,

Since i’ve found you, i enjoy your take on things… telling the truth all the way, i think that’s what’s coming through so well. I enjoy being on your list and reading your blog posts etc, keep it coming…

    Thnx so much man!

  5. Dennis Doggett Says:

When I first read Scott’s free book I knew he was right about virtually everything he wrote about. I have been caught up the entire hype about Adsense since close to a year ago. I haven’t been able to make anything significant work with Adsense, though I have gotten some websites up that rank fairly well. Traffic is obviously the key here and for a newbie, with Google constantly making changes it has been hard to get a real start with any sort of traffic in the way that the “Gurus” would have you believe on many sales pages. I had already started to develop ideas and testing with much of what Scott writes about before he popped onto the scene with “Adsense is Dead”. I am eagerly awaiting the system that Scott has put together to see what I can add to my own “arbitrage” campaigns, which by the way will likely contain little if any Adsense. Adsense -is- dead for all but the most content savvy of newer people on the scene. Here’s to you Scott!

  6. Mahesh Bhat Says:

No doubt, Scot has written something revolutional this year and given it away for free. However, I don’t agree claims like “Adsense is Dead!”

There are some website which can be monetized only with Adsense. Think about eZineArticles.com Do you recommend them to use click flipping?

Adsens is never my primary source of income. I sell lots of stuffs online including physical products. I tried this clicl flippng as well but had no success. So eager to see Scot’s next release.

I’m alsways open for new techniques to make money online!

  7. Ken Says:

    John,

I couldn’t agree with you more. Mr. Comm also is supposed to have his second go around of
Instant Adsense Templates released soon. So, what is he supposed to do except mislead. I’ve
lost thousands upon thousands of dollars and have gone through bankruptcy trying to make
money online. Why, because I’ve listened to these so-called Guru’s and was hypnotized into
buying EVERY damn product they put out. For the average Joe like myself its down right
difficult to succeed online especially when your’re trying to educate yourself and trying
to decide who’s honest etc. and who is not. Thank you for your input, as I write this I’m
waiting for the MP3 to finish downloading. To date there have only been three individuals
that I now feel safe in and you’re one of them John and Scott is the other.

I hope that there is soon and very soon a more detailed step by step lesson on how to achieve
    success with Click Flipping.

  8. Kevin Says:

    Hi John

Appreciate your imput. I still have a few bucks
coming in each day from the passiveincomegenerator
system that used DSG so I’m gonna have a go at this
new system of Scott’s. There are a couple of blank spots
in the middle of Scott’s description though so I look
forward to any more comments you may have.

    Regards

  9. Tammy Dickinson Says:

Best gosh darn call I have heard in a long time was your ‘update’ call I received tonight!
Loved it! You know why? Because finally someone thinks the way I have thought for the longest
time and has the ability to gain an audience to hear it. Not to mention the success to back
it up! I have written my own little ebook that I was just finishing when The Death of AdSense
came out. I was SO mad and a little worried because I wanted to make sure that I wasn’t just
2 seconds late. I was glad to see they were similar in the important ways and different in
others. This campaign was genious, I gotta’ say. And I absolutely have little respect for the
soul selling that has been going on with all the ‘Supers’. So I push everyone to recognize
the Professionals and kick their habit! It’s a mess out there and it’s like sorting through
crap soup when you want to get going. The merry-go-round is already in motion and someone
grabs you by the arm to jump on, what do you do? You try and sort out which way the ground
went, right? Thanks so much for your candid, honest, and really entertaining and informative
blog and sites. I love ‘em and will be back often! So glad to have found you and yours.

    Much Success To You!
    Tammy

    Hi John,

Nice write-up - I’m enjoying this debate. I think there is some important awareness education as a result of the AdSense is dead discussion, even if people are getting bogged down in the semantics of how dead it actually is.

I really enjoyed Scott’s life after AdSense book and I think he’s doing a great job at positioning himself as the click flipping guy - which I suspect is partially his goal with his “launch” and no doubt he will decide what type of info product to release as he continues to get feedback from people.

  11. Andy Says:

Scott’s report gave me a reality check. What he says makes alot of sense (without the ad).
So: I need to use PPC to drive visitors to my own product sales page.

The gaping hole in his report is how to make money from the landing page as an affiliate since landing pages are frowned upon by the big G in a similar way to squeeze pages that exist to extract people’s contact details.

In the second report, the future seems to be CPA (Cost Per Action) pages monetized by G. So it seems the way to go as an affiliate is to produce content sites that attract natural search results. Otherwise you won’t be able to drive PPC traffic from Google to a Google CPA-monetized page.

It’s a puzzle to work out a good strategy as an affiliate.

  12. Jim Says:

I’ve been online for 2 years trying to make money. In this time, I have not learned how. Instead, I have learned that 99% of the stuff I’ve bought from so-called gurus is totally crap.
It was time someone started a BS meter and my hat is off to you. The only problem as I see it is that if you are going to only publish 1 or 2 reviews a month, it is going to take a
gazillion years to expose all the crap-mongers out there! Instead, how about starting a
site that show just good programs…it wouldn’t take much room!
Anyway, my hat is off to you, and I hope your site will help me to find that elusive program(s) that will REALLY ENABLE ME TO MAKE A LIVING ONLINE! Keep up the good work.
    Cheers,
    Jim

  13. John Says:

    John,

I just listened to your mp3 and I couldn’t agree more. I gave Joel’s report a quick glance over this morning and it became apparent fairly quickly that he missed the point of Scott’s reports and was covering his own behind. Thing is, I like Joel, but this report today showed his true colours and that was disappointing. I sent a message to a small CPA/PPC group I’m in about Joel’s report and the fact that it was frustrating that he, and the other Guru’s, can’t seem to bring themselves to give Scott credit for what he has done. He has created a stir in the internet marketing community bigger then the so called Guru’s have been able to when launching a product. My hat is off to Scott for what he has accomplished so far and for building customer loyalty by giving away good information that can be used today TO MAKE MONEY! Of course he has a backend product…why wouldn’t he? He’s in the Internet marketing business like everyone else…and if he didn’t have a product or service, someone else would come up with one. And we all know that before the end of the year, they will try…they will try! Unfortunately, for the absolute beginner coming online, they’re likely to fall for the Guru’s banter…what a shame that it continues on and on…

    A Quote From Joel’s ebook:

“In their most recent quarterly report, Google announced revenues of
$2.46 Billion for the 2nd quarter of 2006. Of this amount, about $1
Billion was generated by AdSense from AdSense publishers’ sites.
That represented a whopping 58% increase over AdSense revenues
for the 2nd quarter of 2005.”

Doesn’t this suggest that google is robing us blind, they are simply keeping more of the profits and only giving 1 cent to the publisher?

[…] But at the end of the day, AdSense is not dead, but it ain’t what it used to be. Competition in the blogosphere and smarter AdWords users have made it harder to earn a decent check from AdSense. I’ve asked a few prominent AdSense users who privately say that this is so. That they have seen a gradual decline in earnings coming in from AdSense. “The “gurus” have had an easy time selling stuff to people over the past few years because what they were selling actually worked. This is a refreshing look at the Adsense situation. It saved me a lot of time - in that - I was going to start building sites around just the adsense model..

I have heard about Scott’s ebook before, but did not download it - because I thought it would be filled with affiliate links for other Internet Marketing products.

Your newsletter convinced me otherwise. I still have a few more pages to go, but I am completely energized by the information I have read so far.

Would definitely buy any “paid” product he develops in the future..

New CPA Network, the Answer to PPC Fraud?

New CPA Network lures affiliates away from Adsense with advanced fraud filters.

Kingwood, TX (PRWEB) September 28, 2006 — Internet marketers welcome the new cost-per-action, or CPA network. Compared to pay-per-click (PPC) campaigns with click fraud issues to contend with, a CPA network only pays affiliate marketers if the Internet shopper actually completes a certain action, like completing a survey, buying a product or submitting a verifiable lead.

Results show that CPA network programs boast tested-and-proven Internet advertising models for affiliate marketing campaigns as evidenced by Google™ kicking off its own CPA network program. Differing from the Google™ Adsense program where affiliates need to adhere to strict promotional rules, the new Google™ CPA network program, also referred to as their Content Referral Network partnership program, is more flexible.

Google™ directs their Internet affiliate marketers to publish their CPA network ads with personal comments on their websites. So when website visitors click on a site, they may find ads with remarks near them like:

    • I highly recommend this software.
    • See for yourself! Try this vitamin supplement today.

Whereas with Adsense ads, affiliate marketers need to pretty much not interfere in any way with the ad spots at all, this new Google hard-sell strategy* is expected to offer a higher rate of return and more opportunities for affiliate marketers using CPA network programs.
    Disadvantages of CPA Network Programs

Just as PPC campaigns suffer fraudulent click issues, CPA network campaigns unfortunately anticipate their own fraudulent activity from less scrupulous, unprincipled rogues, too. Possible negative issues could include:

    - People buying online with stolen credit cards.
    - People shopping a lot before buying, delaying and possibly interfering with the buying and payout modes of the CPA network program.
    - Multiple surveys and / or registrations submitted using fake IDs.

    Improved CPA Network Programs

To counter the disadvantages of older CPA network programs, companies like Texas-based Modern Click are turning affiliate marketing around with new positive CPA network programs. Modern Click offers:

    Advertiser Benefits
    - Increased Sales & Traffic
    - Your Own Virtual Sales Force Covering the Internet
    - Scalable Programs to Fit Budgets of all Sizes
    - Measurable, Real-Time Results for Maximum ROI

    Affiliate Benefits
    - Guaranteed High Payouts
    - Real-Time Reporting & Tracking System
    - Free “Step-by-Step” Training Program
    - Profitable Offers from Name-Brand Advertisers

  21. Kevin Says:

Adsense HAS changed in the last year or so, and anyone who tells you differently isn’t being honest. However, the ability to “click flip” via Adwords has changed recently too. Surely you folks haven’t forgotten recent “improvements” to the Adwords system that caused minimum bids to shoot from 10 cents to 10 dollars in many cases, putting many big money earners on the sidelines.

  22. Jim Says:

    Thank you John,

There is so much Bull Shit being sold online today that it is now an epidemic.
Every e-mail sales pitch that I get today is 99% impossible to work in the time period
and in the manner that most claim. The top internet marketers today are 99% BS artist.
And you know who they are.

John, one of your best points is that the the marketers tell you just enough to make you think
that you’re Superman and you can use their product and make money almost immediately.

    THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN!

I hope that you continue your work toward pointing out all the things that are missing in all the
so called LAUNCHES of products that will make you $30,000.00 a month right out of the box.

Yes, Adsense is at the top of the list right now and the truth has been told. IT IS DEAD as we once
    new it.

John, what can I do to help you?

    Thanks for listening,

    Jim

  23. Jim Says:

I sent the below e-mail to Joe several times. Don’t think I’ll ever get a response.

    Jim
    *********************************************************************

    Joel,

What Google earns has absolutely nothing to do with what the average person can make with adsense.

Now, get real and show a copy of your Adsense checks for January through September of 2006.

Then show a copy for January through September of 2005.

You’ve done this in your ads for you course’s before. Now put an end to all this nonsense and show us!

  24. John Says:

@kevin: No, we have not forgotten about the Google Slap. There are ways around them jacking up your bid price from $0.10 to $10. There are even ways around them jacking up your bid price from $0.10 to $0.20.

  25. Lee Kapa Says:

    In regards to clickflipping.com
I think he must have a lot of balls to charge $997 For the first month and $297 for ongoing months.

  26. fres Says:

Thanks Lee for pointing out that price point.
Ok, what Scott had mentioned in his ebooks are true but to charge a grand for the first month and $300 each month a
onwards ?? He says it was priced that way to weed out the tire-kickers. Is it that way or just to make big bucks out of other people’s desperation from adsense. Had he really explained his real agenda in full detail ? How is Keith Baxter(modernclick) really associated with Scott ?
There is nothing wrong if everybody wins together as a group but what if their business model fails? Not bad for them if they already made a grand from each of those thousands of people at least.
Just curious and just wanting a clearer view of their real agenda to separate the fact from the hype.

  27. David Reed Says:

    John,
Just came by to listen to your audio. Can I post it on my site?

Two points. Modernclicks is not the ONLY alternative to Adsense. What ‘The Death of Adsense’ has done is to make everyone aware of that point. Ironically, Google ‘CPA’or such and look at the results!

Secondly. I would of loved to have landed here on your Blog and found it swamped with Adsense! lol

  28. Shamael Says:

Well I think the internet marketers’ role model these days is to give hope to the people becoming milliner over night as usually people who are looking for home based business either near bankrupt or do not make decent income to sustain. People who visit the ‘Big Red sites’ became easily scammed as subconsciously they trying to build their hope over the “GURUS” to get rid of their misery.

One should understand online business is like any other business which requires substantial investment as well as time to become successful. It is not less then a publication & people with publication background are more likely to succeed in the long run. Off course technicality is another important factor but should not be handled by owner him/herself rather outsourcing will save a lot of time.

It is quite natural that no return is steady in open market situation . Therefore return form adsense will very time to time. Virtually nobody know how your page will be ranked by the search engine even I believe google programmer might not know how exactly the page should be formatted for ranking as the vastness of the variable makes it most unpredictable. And I believe is rightly so because the net should not be saturated by the adsense money maker rather to open for the means of the net.

Since the googles’ revenue is pretty must dependent on adword I don’t believe it will be dead in near future. Strategies should be formulated in the changed scenarios & it will continue to sustain on net

John you are right. The little guy with a new site has no hope of making income with Adsense.

I am convinced I was being cheated. When I complained my Adsense account was suspended at the only sites I was displaying
Google Adsense ads on was the site Writingup.com

See my url I am investigating this company and if they pay this will be much better option to google
adsense as they pay you just to displays ads on you pages. I am convinced this is all Google Adsense
was providing me as my various site trackers were not registering in my site trackers.
