Why does Internet Explorer suck so much?
Can someone please tell me?
I mean, this is ridiculous.
I have quite a few google accounts that I spend a significant amount of time in.
I hate logging in and out of each of them, so I open up different browser windows that allow different cookie sessions and I don’t have to log out of one to log into another.
By default I use Firefox.
But, when I need another google account open, I have to open IE because it doesn’t share cookies.
However, IE always crashes!
It just freezes my computer. The mouse works fine, but nothing else responds (not even ctrl-alt-del).
Recently I’ve been able to track this problem specifically to IE causing the problem.
So, here’s my question (I actually have 2 questions):
Why can’t a piece of software that you’ve been working on for 89 years and that is an “integral” part of your operating system, just work?
Seriously, why can’t it just be a nice, functioning, leave my computer alone and don’t crash, piece of software?
My second question: Can someone help me with a different solution?

John,
Apple just released Safari for Windows.
Thanks for the help on the Google Adwords crash course for Jeffrey. We’re diving into it.

John,
What happened to writingup? Did you shut it down? It hasn’t been working for so long now that I’ve given up, and I had two blogs there! I was a real devoted community person on writingup. I’m pretty disappointed.
Would’ve been nice if you’d have emailed every blogger who gave their time to having a blog on writingup to say what had happened. (I know you have their emails.)
I’ve emailed you a few times about this, and never received a reply. Not good practice for a guy who wants to succeed in business.

Sure, use Opera.
John,
Well if you like Firefox, stick with Mozilla. Just install their Seamonkey package here:
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/
This used to be Netscape 6+/Mozilla Application Suite, and the browser portion should not share cookies with Firefox.

Yeah, what happened to writingUp??

My alternate browser is Opera, and it’s actually not bad in some ways. Yes IE does suck.
you hot the nail on the head Windows internet explorer totaly SUCKS, is a pain and should go bankrupt
Try Google Chrome!
I personally feel that with the design of Microsoft’s Vista, that Microsoft is beginning it’s downhill trip to
going out of business. I have been in computers since 1984, and for the first time I am looking around for a new operating system besides a Microsoft product. For me, personally, Vista was more than a big disappointment. And now Internet Explorer seems to have bottomed out as well. Perhaps Apple now has a better system.
I use opera. I just tried to open IE for a complex reason, and the fucking thing locks up for 2 minutes trying to open. Thus, I typed "why does internet explorer suck" into google out of frustration and found this blog.
Dan,
Hope you'll check this old post.
You should totally check out Ubuntu! It is a BIG relief compared to Windows, even when you're not used to a Linux-like system. I'm still on XP for the reason you mentioned, but I'm planning my escape.
You can try it out in a risc free way by running it on a virtual machine using VirtualBox on Windows. Just install it on a, let's say 8GB, virtual hard drive, which is actually a file on the host machine. VirtualBox is also free by the way.
You will like the Ubuntu software center. Everything is free, and there's an application for everything you ever wanted to do with a computer. It's NOT slow inside a VM, it's almost FASTER than the host machine. It's VERY user friendly, there are no words for it.
I'm running Ubuntu this way on my secondary display. Seamless mode is absolutely great, even copy-paste between machines just works.
My plan is to backup my hard drive, install Ubuntu and VirtualBox for Ubuntu, and run Windows in a VM. Just in case I would need a specific application not available for Debian (Ubuntu is more or less Debian). The reason I want to switch it around, is that Ubuntu's memory management is way better than Windows' and the Kernel is much more efficient.
Besides the software center, there are a lot of installers (.deb) for Debian software (e.g. Skype, Thunderbird,…) which behave about the same as a .msi for Windows.
But yeah, 1984. Those where the days.
I was 4 years old back then, but I can remember typing Basic programs from books into the VIC-20 command line, or was it a C64. I shouldn't say typing, it was more like comparing characters and pressing keys which looked the same. :p
Those things hardly ever crashed, if the tape was readable.
Have fun!
Internet Explorer sucks because it wants to be different. Every other major browser, except maybe opera, reads and applies CSS the same way, but Microsoft (in their infinite wisdom) decided to read things differently. This has caused me so many F-ing headaches its ridiculous. I have a blog that I'm building and it works perfectly in FireFox, Safari, but IE breaks the page. Now I have to go in and find out what the hell IE doesn't like and try to make a compromise between IE and all the other browsers in the world. F*** IE and the horse it road in on!
You would think that a company the is supposed to be a software company could actually write software. But they can't. Explorer does suck – and as a web developer it REALLY sucks.
real smart… freaking troll. Please post something decent here or dont post anything. It is people like you that i absolutely abhore. People like you make the internet suck. Why do you troll? it does not give you anything of note so please…
