I’m not the first to say this, neither am I the last.
But, it’s something people miss over and over again.

You know I thought I had the plan down after watching your interview with Adam Short and joining Replace My Self but now you’re saying I would be wasting my time setting up sites without first running Adwords but in that interview he says he doesn’t even use PPC. Is that a waste of time to set up niche sites like that then without first testing them using AdWords?
Great video John. I have been in internet marketing for a couple of years now and have made ’some’ sales. But this was primarily with eBay and article marketing. I am just now becoming familiar with ad words and can totally see how what your saying makes perfect sense. I think the biggest potential problem for some might simply be the limitation on available funds to run ad word campaigns. I just ran one this past week and I spent $300 pretty quick and easy (and I learned what I had was not selling). This is, to some, ‘the cost of doing business’, but for others its the sort of thing that can break a person before they really get of the start line. Any thoughts on that?
Cheers!

I’m still thinking about this one-
I think it’s easy to spend lots ($$) on adwords, and not make profit. But what does that mean?
Bad campaign?
Bad website?
Bad keywords?
Bad added value?
I guess I do believe that if it works (or is close to profitable) in adwords, it will work for SEO methods.
Hmm, I can tell you with certainty, adwords DOES work, HOWEVER…set your $20/day budget, be sure that you are using long-tail keywords primarily, rotate your ads (always place 2), do your keyword research, do your Google research, meaning make sure that whatever product you are promoting, do a search first to see what ads come up on page 1 of Google, look at those ads and see how you can be as close to their ads, capitalize the first letter of each word (easier to read).
BE MINDFUL, it can pull you in and you can spend a TON of $$$.
My only caveat to “outsourcing” adwords, is…make sure your GUY is well trained or has previous adwords experience, otherwise it may go sideways.
Sorry, not a naysayer, just someone who went through all that and more.
To your success,
Steve
John,
When you say to use Adwords, are you suggesting this be a permanant mode of advertising or is it to be primarily a means to test to see if your site is making money?
You also suggested setup the sales without your product completed and give it away to the early birds who signed up before it was completed. Are you suggesting that we buy Adwords even before there is a product to sell?
Can’t say that your advise about adsense/SEO/content etc is accurate.
I think you have mislead people quite a bit and put forward a strong bias.

i like strong opinion statements. However, testing will override opinion. I have a niche where ad words did not work. People did not convert from links – clicks but no conversions and ad presentment with no clicks. I did test many alternatives, copied competition, assessed competition and discovered that nearly all of the competition was not converting with ad words as well. This was an expensive journey.
What did work was article marketing and blogging. Traffic from these sources led to "natural search" results (even though in many cases I was not on page 1) which had good conversion rates.
What I will now be trying a affiliate sales to particular products that have good sales (but the suppliers will not let me carry) with ad words and will collect name and email information to add to my value add newsletters with the anticipation that my special offers in the newsletter will convert them from affiliate sales to direct customers.
So you do have to adjust you path to what actually works. Ad words is quickly tested to determine if it works or not and you do not have to spend thousands or even hundreds to get results from the tests.

People are still using Adwords? I thought everyone got banned…..LOL
Guess it's just me.
