How to make $3 – 700 Times A Day!
Here’s Joel’s business model (think about how this fits with your guys in the Philippines):
- build a 30-minute mini-site
- ^^^ mini site makes (average) $3/day
- repeat 765 times
Math
$3/day (average) * 30 days/month = $90 per site per month (not a lot)
$90/site/month * 100 sites = $9000/month (getting better)
$90/site/month * 765 sites (how many Joel has) = $68,850/month (NOW WE’RE TALKING!!!)
Or, let’s be a little more conservative…just in case Joel is full of crap (which he’s not)
$1/site/day = $30/site/month
100 sites * $30/site/month = $3000/month
1000 sites $30/site/month = $30,000/month (not bad
…
ESPECIALLY IF YOU’RE NOT THE ONE DOING THE WORK!!!)
Joel lives about 1/2 hour from me, so I went to his house and had him spill the beans (WATCH THIS NOW!!!).
If you don’t believe that making money (lots of it) is possible, listen to how simple it is when you have the right system:

YES! Joel is selling a product. It will be available March 3. I have it and it is AWESOME!
Here’s another video with Joel explaining how simple this is.

Ahh, my two favorite internet marketers on one video!
I’ve been to Joel’s house too. I’ve worked with him. He’s the real deal!
This sounds like a great idea for outsource workers. I’ve tried this on a very small scale because that’s all I can manage alone.
I’m sitting at home waiting for my wireless high-speed connection to be installed. Maybe then I can watch the video and take some action…
I like this concept and would like to know more about how to outsource this process. Would you please contact me at the above Email address….Thanks
John is a really good guy and source of information, but outsourcing video production to a Filipino?? Ok.
Hi Jonas
What qualities and technologies would you suggest we look for in an outsourcer?
It seems, Joel has a person who does the whole enchilada. Is it an easy task to find such a person?…even at bestjobs.
Thanks
Hey Jonas,
i need to know more about this product? and what about outsourcing at low rate can you help with that?
Hey John..Demsond here…I had a quick question to ask about Jing…I know that you use Jing to give to your outsourcers my question to you is…I know with Jing the file formats are a little big. How do you cut down the size on your files? Or do you just have the files FTP to your site and you dont worry about the size of the file? I ask because I haved ued the FTP function just a save to desktop.
Desmond
Sounds good.
I just wonder how to actually get traffic from videos. As far as I know the only clickable URL can be in your user profile description.
That would mean you have to create a new You Tube user for each site you promote…
Thanks Great bunch of ideas a smart Guy Joel
Interesting Video and it looks like a good system but you completely avoided any mention of costs.. $3 a day from a site is good of you have 100 BUT how much will I need up front to create those 100 sites?
I supect I would need several thousand dollars to build sites for the first month or two until the commission payments started to come
I have built these “scraper” sites before, made bascially less than a few cents a piece. Are you sure this is the way to go?
Also, how do you feel about hundreds and hundreds of people building hundreds and hundreds of sites with no content, just clogging up the Internet, so that you can make a dollar or two with adsense?
Hi Jonas,
Great video, informative, real and always from you the TRUTH.
Thanks,
Roger

Sounds like a great plan but I have doubts as well. Does the 30 min to build the website INCLUDES the time the outsourcers spend on it?
If one were to do this alone would it still take 30 minutes?
Plus, how quality would the website be?
Hi John,
It is a great vid but it would be good if we could see an example of one or two of his sites he has currently running…
Regards
Sam
Hi John,
Do you have any plans to incorporate or show how someone could incorporate Joel’s Mini-Site plan into an outsourced project?
When I say “Show”….I don’t mean for free, but rather as an add-on for the Phillipine experience.
Thanks,
Jack
Do you give the resources for finding outsourcing at a reasonable price?
thanks!
@Roshana – Yes, you can find it here: ReplaceMyself.com
@Jack – Right now I don’t have a plan to show how to implement Joel’s stuff…because that’s what his stuff is. It’s pretty easy to implement it with his instructions.
@Ryan – Yes, the 30 minutes is all spent by your guy in the Philippines. That’s not your 30 plus his 30. That’s the point of outsourcing, and why I like this model so much. It’s 100% outsourceable.
@Mark – the costs are negligeable. Domains, hosting, software. Beyond that, there just isn’t much.
John
Hi
These looks really good and doable, but can a newbie really do this? I know you talk about outsourcing but is it not important that I learn how to do each step by myself. Wordpress? plug ins? making
videos ……………………………. can I do this?
Heck, sure I can.
Karl
Hi,
Why don’t you share a sample mini site with us so we can see what kind of sites we would be putting up?
Doesn’t seem to be asking too much, seeing that we would be spending at least $100 for the program.
I got an email about this program from Dylan Loh as well.
Like yourself, he also claims to have been a “beta” tester for a few months to try out the program.
However, when I called him out on it, I never got a response. Is this just another program you are pushing because you are an affiliate? Did you really use it or did you guys just send out a “canned” sales letter saying that you did?
If you really did use it, how about some proof?
Thanks,
Jim
@Jim,
I never said I used his program. I said I’ve been doing similar things for a long time.
I have been through Joel’s program. I’ve watched all the videos. It’s really good stuff.
I don’t show an example site because the first thing you would do is copy it. That’s a policy of mine. I don’t show the things I’m personally working on. I made that mistake 2 times. Never again.
John
John
Is all the information downloadable to your hard drive to watch at your leisure?
Thanks
Karl
John,
Hey.. I guess that’s cool if you don’t want to share, you must have your reasons.
It just seems that if there is so much valuable information in the videos, what possible harm can be done in showing a potential buyer what of sites he or she would be making?
If an example site could be copied so easily, as you suggest, then the information the videos must have no value, right?
Thanks
I can see Jim’s Point.
But if Joel’s product is as good as we all hope it is – Great.
If not it is covered by Clickbank.
I as a newbie, hope to ger a lot from it.
Thanks
Karl
@Karl and @Jim
You’re right Karl, if it’s not great (which it is), ask for a refund. You’ll get your money back, that’s not an issue.
Just make sure you try what he talks about. It’s not hard to implement, and you don’t have to do all the different hosting stuff he talks about just for one site.
Just please, don’t buy it, and NOT implement it, and then say it doesn’t work.
If you implement what he’s talking about, it will work. I’ve seen it over and over again.
John
John
Don’t worry I will.
For a while now I have been bombarded with so many different offers to do this or that, It has left me shell shocked and confused and more important being like a rabbit in the headlights – Taking no action.
Joel’s course makes sense to me and feels like something I can do, Learn from and make some money to start my IM career.
The overload and my capability of all the things I have never done worry me. But I guess one step at a time I will be a old pro by Mini site 10.

Hi,
I am a totally newbie in this game. I came over the Minisite Formula and was tempted to buy it. I am so excited and will really learn how to make sites and money from this.
I am very angious to get going and build some sites, but knowing nothing about the business my question is:
What kind of outsource help can i get building these sites? What sort of info will these people need from me to make the sites etc.etc.
Appreciate any help and advice I can have.
Thanks

This video is missing one vital piece of information. Domain names. Do you use subdomains, full domains, sub-directories?
For full domains: 765 * ~$8 per domain is $6120 for domain names alone.
Also, my (and others) experience on mini-sites like this is the revenue is about a penny per unique visitor (not hit), which means that if you are averaging $3 per day, you should be getting about 300 unique visitors per day (about 4 page views per visitor is average).
Can you confirm or deny those numbers? Higher? Lower?
This means at 765 sites, you are getting 918,000 page views per day, something that will really put strain on a shared web host.
So that would mean that these sites are spread out over multiple web hosts. I would guess that for hosts like hostmonster or hostgator, at that level of traffic, you really don’t want more than 15 sites installed on there given that you are using wordpress (which is a resource hog and slow). So about 51 separate host accounts (unless you are using Rackspace with a high-end dedicated server).
At ~$7 per month for shared web hosting that is about $357 per month in hosting expenses, which is certainly not a lot compared to the revenue generated.
Overall a good video. I found it particularly interesting that you don’t generate any unique content for these sites, letting the feed data populate your pages. Kind of like BANS except on steroids.
Jolinar
Jolinar hit the nail on the head. It would cost 6k just to get the domain names. So the cost-of-setup does not pass the smell test…
Also, why do a new program for training about this system instead of pumping the same amount of money into your own system and having 1000 sites make 3 dollars a day – 3,000 per day equals 1,000,000+ per year.
Is there a point of diminishing returns? Have you reached it, and now offer your secrets?
Do tell/
@joeshays – If you look at it that way, you’re right, the cost of domains doesn’t pass the “smell test.” But that’s only if you bought those domains all at once and started building all 765 of them at once.
PLEASE DON’T DO THIS!
If you buy the domains over time, it’s very reasonable.
Also, this isn’t my program. I don’t know why Joel is putting the info out there. I think it’s partly a boredom thing. When you’ve done something 700+ times, you get bored (it’s the entrepreneurial ADD…). I would guess that the next logical step (especially when you’re doing this and you have people asking you all the time “teach me how you do it, teach me how you do it, teach me how you do it!”) is to create training for it.
John
If I tell someone I have an elephant in my pocket and for 100 dollars they can have their own elephant in their pocket, I would expect that person to ask me to prove my statement before giving over the money.
Asking us to spend 100 dollars on something we haven’s seen has the air of a traveling medicine show about it.
Sure, if you do show a site, it can be copied by someone who already knows what they are doing but that isn’t your intended buying audience. If you want to attract business then show what a site can look like so as to push the possible purchaser over the edge into buying.
If not, you are merely trying to sell us an elephant in your pocket.
@Tarjeit:
I completely understand. It’s just a personal policy of mine.
Joel offers a money back guarantee. If you buy, and find it doesn’t work for you, he’ll refund the money. If he doesn’t refund it, I’ll personally guarantee the refund.
John
Where can I get the mini-sites you were discussing on your Feb. 27 blog?
Thanks!

Outsourcing Case Study - Lisa Schwartz @ 3:31 am
[...] She’s using Joel Petersons Mini Site Formula which I reviewed here. [...]
Great info. I can’t wait until the product comes out.
I love adding new streams of income!
I purchased Joel’s Mini-Site Formula training about 3 months ago. I have found it very informative, and by the way, Joel is an excellent teacher/trainer. As instructed, I watched the videos once through, and them the second time through I bought a domain name and began to implement. It is not as easy as Joel makes it sound, but then again he has done it a million times. Also the screen shots of the dashboards etc. are different so you really have to search around to find what you need. I suppose that is because since he had made the videos, the format of some of the pages have changed. It is a little more work, but it causes you to think a little more, as if you weren’t thinking enough already. Bottomline, I am going to hang in there until I get it. By the way John, I would like to find out a little more about Mormonism, maybe from you personally.
Hey John,
Well, It seems like this was a potentially good video…
BUT, whenever you send me this stuff, it never loads on my computer.
I’ve been sitting here for a few minutes as the loading ball just keeps going on and on (and I do have high speed cable line that I’m the only one on)…
Don’t mean for this to be a complaint b/c it’s not… Just letting you know in case other folks are having the same/similar problems…
Tried to play the video, but it does not play. Is there something wrong with it, or is the problem at my end?
Hey John,
I can’t seem to play the video either. There’s just this spiral thingy in the middle going round and round… I suppose it is trying to load.
Andy Iskandar
I outsource our real estate video to our VA in the Philippines. They do a great job for us.
I’ve seen John’s stuff and Joel’s stuff and they do indeed go hand in hand.
You start slow. Make one site with Joel’s method… from research, to creation, to promotion. Then do another, and another. Do 10 or 20 sites. See what happens. Are you making money? Your goal isn’t a homerun, it’s a “bunt” as mentioned earlier. Just get on base…$3 per day.
Some sites make more, some make less. You won’t know enough if you only create one site. And certainly not if you only read the posts of naysayers on forums and blogs.
Now, once you reach the point of having your stable of sites bringing in $500 per month, take $200 of that and use John’s system… hire an outsourcer. Then your productivity increases, you get more sites done, your income increases, you can hire another worker.
Keep moving forward.
If you would like to see one of my sites just click on my name up there. I have not bought this program but I did buy another one last year. The question that I have is, what about ebay partners? I have read and heard toooo many things bad about them taking their payment department away form CJ. Some said last year they lost more then half of their rev. Now I don’t know this to be true because I started working with them as it happened so I don’t know what my income would have been before the switch. Has anyone out there had any problems with ebay holding back on what they make?
I am not saying that ebay does not pay at all, I do make some from my few sites but I still have a bad feeling about making more of them.
Thanks for the time to vent. Let me know what you think.
Fantastic information in the video.
I like the way you managed to explain the process of creating these mini-sites and sending traffic to them.
Sounds like a great system you’ve got going.
John– I did not hear how to actually make money on the video? How do the micro-sites make money once they are posted? Is that on the video (did I miss it)?
Tim
John
I bought Joels course about 5 months ago. Lot of info, almost to much. My question is- Why not use BANS and then drive traffic to your sites that way. I personnaly never used BANS and I don’t no how it works other than you can build unlimated mini sites. Thought maybe you would no the difference.
John, you are going to make me very rich! I loved your phone call on outsourcing, and your blog videos (this is my second), so far, are incredible, simple, and exciting!
Thanks a million!
Greg Vinson
@Jolinar:
But who would pay $7 PER DOMAIN for shared hosting?! I only pay $35.00 a month for 5 cpanels with unlimited add-on domains with 24/7 toll free phone tech support. There are much cheaper plans available too but I pay more to be able to change the IP Addresses’s within the cpanels. You need to find a different host.
Steve
I like this idea Joel has given me something to think about.I am trying to access Commission Junction, it seems to be a complicated app process. Why do I need to use my website in the application, I only want to seek out affiliates I can advertize on adwords.
@Steve
Which hosting company do you use?
Thanks,
Rocky
Ho John,
you need a profile picture. I usually only scam through the comments in order to see what information the author of the article later adds to it, after being asked some questions. It’s hard, because you have no gravatar-picture. I recommend you get one!
So far I have not decided yet if I am going to buy your product, I keep out watching for more of your stuff. Thanks for sharing.
John,
Don’t you think that the mini-site model would be far more profitable if it was monetized with affiliate links to digital (downloadable) products rather than the google adsense “cent a click” model that takes your prospective buyer AWAY from your web page with every click made?
Just a thought.
Alan H
@Alan – It could be, yes. If you put the work in.
The problem is that selling digital products takes way more work on your part (the affiliate) than it does to get a click on adsense.
Making money from adsense takes no work except to get traffic to your site.
I have both types of sites. Some are more profitable with adsense than affiliate stuff, others are more profitable with affiliate stuff than with adsense.
Hmmmm. The only issue I have with the opening claims made by John / Joel is the “30 min website”. Very misleading… not fair to make this claim as it’s not at all accurate.
I’ve been working this formula for a few months and I can tell ya – no way are you going to create your sites in 30 min, unless they are complete garbage sites… so why bother?
As Joel says, you want a blend of automated content and original content… this takes time. Yes, it is perfect for outsourcing using Johns strategies.
I like Joel’s teaching – it’s clear and concise, but there’s a healthy learning curve and you have to hunker down and embrace the brain pain, glazed eyeballs, and incoherent ramblings as you try to figure all this stuff out.
@ Blaine – eBay has cut down there payouts for new signups (ACRU’s)which is a big factor in the $3 a day claim. Now eBay is using some mysterious formula for paying out the referral fees – anywhere from $1-$40.
If it’s a dollar payout… sorry… you won’t be hitting your $3 a day mark… not by a longshot.
I’ve seen success with a few of my sites and I’m gearing up to begin outsourcing – It’s a good system, and I believe in it, just don’t go believing all the hype – It’s work… even to get to the outsourcing stage.
All the best,
Russell
How much would it cost for you to set up the mini sites for me?
Is this something that a person can make money from on day 1? (given that they know how to publish wordpress sites and ftp etc) So at the end of the first month, by making 2 a day a person will earn about $180 in the first month by following this system.
Secondly, can we get a qualified answer on the use of subdomains? For a lot of people it’s a good economical option. But is it a viable option for this system?
Thirdly are these sites adsense driven? and do we have to use ebay?
Hmmmm 30mins to build the mini sites. Does that include researching niches and keywords? I know building traffic can be pretty time consuming, web 2.0, articles so i'm thinking it will take a lot longer than 30mins to build a ready to go site. In the video Joel mentioned he made around 860 sites in a yr. That equates to only 2.5 sites per day and he mentioned is does outsource. Joel also mentions in the video you can easily build 10 sites a day on your own so why is his outsource guys only doing 2.5.
You also have the costs of domains, traffic geyser at 97 per mth plus whatever the cost is for the other tools ( phpBay Pro, Datafeedr and terapeak ) mentioned in the video. To be honest i don't mind initial set-up cost because you will make that money back but i am a bit annoyed about the misleading time frames mentioned in the video.
Can someone who has used the system give a true time frame on the end to end process to build a $3 minisite including niche research, keyword research, building the website and also building the traffic?

I know this is a brilliant IM business model, especially for newbies, the initial investment capital is minimal, you can also starts using a free blogging platform like blogger for a start and when you start earning enough, then you can start buying your own personalised domains.
I find myself getting excited, the more I learn. I am looking to do more with the internet, and keep wondering is it really that easy?
Hopefully I will find out soon.
I pay $44.95 per month for unlimited website hosting (unlimited cpanels) and a whole bunch of free marketing tools like a prospecting system with video capture page templates, video producer and encoder, and webinar platform to boot. And I can resell the hosting as well. There are definitely good deals out there.
It is not about how much you make it is about how much you keep. So there should be more discussion about the total costs associated with this program.
$3 * 30 = $90 income
Hosting costs
Outsourcing costs
Administration costs
Affiliate, merchant account, eBay, other costs
All of this = operating costs that have to be less than $90 per month
which yields gross profit
I have seen a few models promoted that provide a lot of sales but not a lot of gross profit. So your discussion should include a bit more about this.
yogiway
$2 per day per site with hosting fees of 10 per month is still profitable. But accounting and administration would seem to be a big deal.
yogiwan
Not to ask a dumb question, but if you have 762 (give or take) websites, does that mean you are buying a new domain name for each one?? Or do you sub niche some of the domains… say a website devoted to babies might have 10 different subpages or sub blogs with different niche products on it??
Just curious.
Matt
Let’s do some numbers…
765 domains at $10 (rounded off depending on your registrar) per 1 year registration is $7650.00 a year.
To host this number of sites, the least you need is a reseller account or even a VPS. Let’s go for a reseller account.
Hostgator offers a reseller account starting at $24.95 per month with 50GB disc space and 500GB monthly bandwidth. That’s big. You can easily host 150-200 sites depending how complicated your site is. To be on the conservative side, let’s say you get 4 such reseller packages or a total of $99.80 a month or $1,197.60 a year. There are bigger reseller packages but we’ll not go there. The main purpose is to spread you sites in different account so that if anything happens to one account you’ve got other accounts active. Also, it would be better to get reseller accounts from different hosting companies to get a varied IP and then you can link between your sites. BTW, all reseller account much have WHM.
In Tip 13 Jonas, showed about 6 people he has working for him. Let’s say he pays each at $250 a month so that makes $3000 a year times 6 people for total of $18,000 a year.
So
$7,650.00 + $1,197.60 + $18,000.00 = $26,847.60
With his example of $90 per site per month, the gross is $65,850/month or $826,200/year.
With only $30 per site per month, that’s $275,400/year. And to be more conservative, at only $15 per site per month the gross would still be $137,700.
Deduct $26,847.60 from any of the gross yearly income above and still you’ll end up in the positive. And that at almost doing nothing.
Next question is, is it possible for a site to earn $90, $30 or even $15 a month? We should note that note all sites we create would earn the same. Some may become big hits while others will be duds. There’s just so many variables. We can never know before hand how a site will do.
There are also many factors to consider if a site is to earn.
1. It would depend on the monetization model. For niche sites the two most popular would be Adsense or affiliate marketing like Amazon, Clickbank, Share a sale, etc.
2. How good the keyword research is. This means competition, monthly searches and for Adsense, CPC.
3. SEO, both on site and off site.
For on site. How good is the site layout, Wordpress or static HTML. Overall design of the site and content. This include how to convert visitors to either buy the product or click the ads. From here you’ll get the CTR and the aim is always for something high.
For off site. How to get the site into the 1st page of the serach engines and preferably in the top 3 results. This means backlinks. How to get good backlinks with a good backlinking campain.
I’ve rattled off too long. But basically it is possible to get that many websites online and earn money. With outsourced work it becomes even easier and the only way to go. It really becomes a business with the owner as the manager.
