The Current State of BestJobs.ph

Notice: I will update this post if the status changes.

Most of my readers know that BestJobs.ph is currently the best place to find Filipino employees (I say “currently” because that will soon change when we release our own site to recruit specifically online workers…coming very soon).

About 3 months ago the owners of BestJobs.ph decided that they didn’t want to allow people outside the Philippines to access BestJobs.

Currently, you can browse through the resumes on the bestjobs.ph website (which in my opinion is the best way to find a Filipino employee) but you can’t join to get their contact info. Worthless!

We have tried to change the minds of the owners of BestJobs with very limited success. They don’t want U.S. based companies posting jobs on their site. That’s how they’ve chosen to run their business.

Currently the only way to contact people in the Philippines after finding them on bestjobs.ph is through your membership at http://www.ReplaceMyself.com. I can’t give any more details, other than to say that as a member of ReplaceMyself.com, you can get contact info for anyone you find on BestJobs. This ability is included in your membership to ReplaceMyself.com.

If the status of BestJobs.ph changes, I’ll post it here.
When our own recruiting site is available, I’ll also post it here.

PS. If you do manage to get an account there (who knows how), DON’T post any job postings. Just trust me on this one. Only do resume searches to find people. If you post jobs, you’ll lose your account.

digg this!

Hey John,

Thanks for posting an update on BestJobs. Was really wondering what the status was.

Thanks,
Eric

Hi John,

I am currently a member of BestJobs. They sent an email recently saying they would close access to US online businesses, but, the ones already a member could keep their status as long as the dues are paid, which I plan to do.

Someone could become a broker who has membership already and sell the resumes and contact information to a third party needing to outsource. You could have a VA take in the requests, do the research on BestJobs, and return the results to the third party outsourcer for some kind of fee or subscription based membership you get paid for, and the VA gets paid also.
And if your VA only cost you a $100 a month, like you mentioned previously, you could make a small Fortune selling this information to needy online marketers and entrepreneurs.

Sound like a plan?

No doubt thats a good idea Freddy. Why isn’t that mysterious “someone” you?

John,
I’m sure you’re aware that this change is not isolated to just Best Jobs. Craig’s List and another Philippine company similar to Best Jobs that I’m aware of are both shutting down relations with US employers. There may be others as well? I’m wondering if there’s not some over-riding political force at play here. It would seem strange for the Philippine government to shut off a significant source of outside revenue into the Philippine economy (unless it is an income tax issue). What do you think?

Jim

Hi Jonas

I think getting your own site up and running is the best. You also have then more data available about the applicants which would save more time finding a good guy. Currently it is a payin anyway to post jobs there and dig through all those applicants and try to find someone good. A service that prefilters some guys more would be great.

John @ 12:32 pm

@Freddy - We already provide access to the bestjobs info to all members of ReplaceMyself.com.
We’re already doing it.

John @ 12:34 pm

@Gunter - We’re VERY close to having this done. We’ve been working on it for a few months.

I’ll let everyone know when we have our own recruiting site up.

It’s going to be awesome.

@jim vickers: i don’t think the philippine government has anything to do with bestjobs and craigslist decision to shut off foreign outsourcers. i think it’s more about a business decision. the philippine government cannot control the filipino freelancers activity because they’re not as sophisticated yet as big brother. i know because i frequent that country. now, john here might just be the link that oursourcers need to find filipino talents. let’s wait for his site to come up.

Thanks for this post my friend! I was actually trying to find a way to get into bestjobs just now… Will look into replacemyself.com now!

Hi John.. I’m from Philippines and I have to say that many Filipino wants to work at home than to work in offices. Bestjobs.ph helps me to have clients and I’m enjoying working at home as SEO. As far as I know my previous company charged $1000+ for this type of service for their clients. Having direct Filipino worker like me saves money but still have the good quality work like hiring company services.

If you’re a member of John’s site, here’s a good tip if you haven’t already found it. After you have found some likely looking resumes on bestjobs.ph, type the following in a new browser window and then just add the resume reference at the end and it instantly brings up the full CV for that person:

http://www.replacemyself.com/resume/

Next person, just replace the last resume ref and hit return. Easy.

Good luck.

Just listened to your recording about hiring Filipinos. It’s good to know that this is available still to Americans, since outsourcing to great employees is where we ALL are headed.
