Seminar in the Philippines
On March 19, 20, 21, in Boracay Philippines I’m putting on an outsourcing retreat seminar.
This seminar is NOT FOR FILIPINOS!
It’s for Americans, Australians, Brits, Canadians…
Basically, for people who want to understand why the outsourcing they’re doing to the Philippines is working SOOO darn well.
And…if you’re not currently doing it, you can come and find out exactly why it will work so well for you.
At the event I’m going to teach some stuff about how I do outsourcing that I’ve never talked about before. Stuff that will literally double the productivity of your GUYS.
There are a couple reasons I’m doing this:
- because when we did it in Costa Rica 2 years ago it was sooooo fun for everyone who was there
- because it gives me a chance to meet other people (you) who are succeeding in their businesses
- because it’s a tax deductible vacation
- because I’m already going to be in the Philippines on vacation with my family for the whole month…
- because (this is a big one) it will give lots of people an excuse to come and meet their GUYS and make their outsourcing efforts WAY more effective.
It’s going to be 3 days of networking, learning, fun, and face-to-face question answering.
We’re also going to go on an excursion together which I will announce later.
The hotel where we are doing it can accommodate 70 people for the event. I already have at least 6 of those spots taken (me, Dan, speakers). This will sell out.
I’m finalizing all the plans for it right now, and will make it available next Tuesday.
The Outsource Retreat is available here

how much do it cost to go dn there? don't you need a passport?
Of course you need a passport u retard.
This sounds like fun. To bad I missed Costa Rica.
Hillarious Answer Bob to this guy asking if he needs a passport!
I can't make it… I'll be in space.
Jonas… this looks awesome!! Look forward to more info and possibly attending
I would love to come but have a date on the 21st in California that I NEED to be at. Have a great time. Borocay looks awesome. Please consider live streaming and recording.
Your baby is so adorable. Love the photo!
Can't Filipinos join? After all, the event will be a great place to meet active people like you in the field.
Yeah, Costa Rica would have been great. I'll be at Yanik Silver's Underground event a weekend prior so it will be difficult for me. By the way I have 3 people in the Philippines thru OnlineJobs.ph but its not working as great for me as its working for you.
A bit of a hassle to get to Boracay, but it sounds fun. I’d go, but I’m already going to be in the Philippines from Feb 3~18.
Very tempting, but the airfare is a FORTUNE!
hi John, send me an email if you need any help with accommodations in boracay. i'd be happy to help.
CJH?__What kind of issue are you having? Would be good to understand what is going on so maybe it can help us as we hire people.
i'll outsource myself to be there
that can't be to expensive seen the location
John, could you help me get on outsourcing board asap? I now have made a conscious decision to build and focus ONLY on my internet business. Will consider going to Boracay since I am going to Manila in March for a visit and vacation.
No, you don't need a passport…. if you live in the Philippines.
Boracay can be expensive depending on the hotel. Hawaiian Air is one of the lowest fares to the PI from California. EVA Air also has some good fares, check around.
can we join? i am one of the outsource person here in Philippines so that we can meet employer to be there and more jobs for us.
Awesome initiative John!!
I'm thinking of to bringing my family over IF I go, is that a good choice or am I the only one thinking of doing that? Or is it better just going myself What are your plans guys??
What's the point if we can't hire Filipinos at the seminar?
What if you're a Filipino AND an American (phil-am) ?
hehehe I actually moved to the phlippines to open up an outsourcing staff company. I might see you there!
Sounds like fun and productive, hope it's a success and you do this again next year! I'm just starting off with outsourcing so not able to come.
Very interesting.. I think it would be a great way to meet up and get to know each other as well as meet my GUYS (lol) I will consider this..
Can I go there! Please…..:)
I don't know what problems CJH is having but I have hired 3 people at OnlineJobs as well (well, I've actually hired 7 but have had to let 4 of them go) and it is not "a walk in the park".
Everyone is very friendly but when it comes to stepping up and delivering, I find that Philippines are just like everyone else. They're not naturally driven either.
I normally send requests to about 30-40 candidates looking for a job. I get 8 replies back and end up hiring three. 2 will but fired in about a week for not delivering and I end up having about 1 that does a fair job.
When I say "fair" its because they job is done pretty well when you look at what you have to pay for it and over time they will definitely improve, but you should never expect to get the same as you will when hiring a skilled native English speaking employee.
But since you're paying 1/10th of the price, I would state that you get more value for your money overall.
Mikael
Hi, I hope Filipinos can join too so we can get a tip or 2 how to help our clients succeed in their internet marketing niche.
I have been working online as virtual assistant to some internet marketers and thank you Jonas for giving Filipinos
a chance to be recognized online.
Hiring someone online is never going to be easy. I actually live in the Philippines and hire locals for clients abroad.
I get 30 applicants every single day in the content writing and virtual assistant field. Of the 20 only 1 passes the qualifying interview. Then they come in for testing and a personal interview with one of my staff, only 30% of those pass the test and personal interview.
Needless to say, those that pass all of the interviews and test are top notch staff. It just takes time to find them.
Well, I find this very interesting.
Any more news on the event?
I’ll guess it’s time pretty soon to purchase flight tickets and book needed transfers from Manilla to Boracay, hotel rooms and so on.
What is the best way to get to Boracay from Manilla by the way, boat? flight? We are traveling from Europe and planning to stay for 8-10 days at Boracay .
Cheers
You will be surprised at what seeing the Filipino culture will do for your ability to hire good people.
@Mikael – Maybe you should read this post: http://www.jonasblog.com/2009/12/7-ways-to-fail-w...
Part of your problem is that you're trying to hire 3 people at once. Try just hiring 1 and giving them some attention. You'll get much better work done.
Hi John, I have actually read that post several times and I agree that this can definitely be an issue. However you can't convince me that every single applicant will be a good employee. Sure you can spend a ton of time teaching someone all the tricks but I prefer to hire someone that has a basic level from the beginning.
But I agree that putting time into them will definitely pay off. I've done that with 3 of the four people I currently employ.
Hey Burt, are you BlueBook?
Hi John,
I am very close to confirming my spot and tickets. Can you tell us the resort that you recommend attendees stay at and approx. how much it will cost?
Thanks!
Eric
Heheh hey barsha, yes I am.
Me to, I need to find out the name of the hotel and cost per night pretty soon before making any final travel arrangements
Cheers!
You're absolutely right. Not every single person will be great. That's how it is anywhere. But, investing in the person will certainly help increase your odds.
