			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>When GoTryThis came out a few years ago I was very skeptical.</p>
<p>Now, I use it almost every day in my business.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s a short list of why I use it:</p>
<ul>
<li>It keeps all my links in one place</li>
<li>I never have to find my affiliate links for any product. GoTryThis has it for me</li>
<li>I get great stats about what is working and what isn&#8217;t</li>
<li>My GUYS in the Philippines can use it for me. They join aff programs, and I don&#8217;t have to know anything about it&#8230;except that my link is in GoTryThis. No thinking on my part.</li>
<li>SUPER simple split testing</li>
</ul>
<p>I got John Reel on a phone call talking about this.</p>
<div class="media_container">
<div class="media" >
<p id="jrgttmp3"><a href="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer">Get Flash</a> to see this player.</p>
<p><script type="text/javascript">
var so = new SWFObject("http://www.jonasblog.com/wp-content/plugins/mediacaster/player/player.swf","jrgttmp3","480","30","7");
so.addParam("autostart","false");
so.addParam("autoscroll","false");
so.addParam("overstretch","true");
so.addParam("thumbsinplaylist","false");
so.addParam("allowfullscreen","true");
so.addVariable("shuffle","false");
so.addVariable("thumbsinplaylist","false");
so.addVariable("skin", "http://www.jonasblog.com/wp-content/plugins/mediacaster/player/snel.swf");
so.addVariable("file","http%3A%2F%2Fjonasblog.s3.amazonaws.com%2fJohn-Reel-GTT.mp3");
so.addVariable("displayheight","0");
so.write("jrgttmp3");
</script>
</div>
</div>
<p>It&#8217;s a piece of software you SHOULD be using in your business.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Yesterday <a href="http://www.chrisknudsen.biz">Chris Knudsen</a> and I went out to lunch. He said he had finished reading the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&#038;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2F4-Hour-Workweek-Escape-Live-Anywhere%2Fdp%2F0307353133&#038;tag=buyebaystuffo-20&#038;linkCode=ur2&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325">4 Hour Workweek</a> on a plane a few days before and he kept thinking &#8220;This is John Jonas&#8221; as he read it.</p>
<p>Last night I finished reading it.</p>
<p>A few thoughts.</p>
<p>1. The stuff he says in the book is <i>possible</i> for anyone.<br />
2. It&#8217;s not as easy as he makes it sound (what ever is?).<br />
3. Making a lot of money, and then taking &#8220;mini-retirements&#8221; is VERY possible.</p>
<p>Read pages 166-176 where Tim gives a system for testing a product before putting up money to have it manufactured.</p>
<p>Basically it involves</p>
<ol>
<li>Find a market</li>
<li>Find a need/product in that market</li>
<li>Put up a short sales page online</li>
<li>Put up an order page after the sales page where someone thinks they&#8217;re going to buy (but don&#8217;t collect their credit card info)</li>
<li>Advertise on Google Adwords</li>
<li>Track sales</li>
</ol>
<p>Most people get stuck on </p>
<ol>
<li>Find a product</li>
<li>Put up a sales page</li>
</ol>
<p>Here&#8217;s how to solve them:</p>
<ol>
<li>In an area you know something about (golf, scrapbooking, construction, health, diet, souping up cars, paper, &#8230;), pick a product you know people want/need. IT DOESN&#8217;T MATTER WHAT IT IS. Just pick something. Once you&#8217;ve done it and failed once, finding another product and succeeding the second time is much easier.</li>
<li>Write a headline, 2 sub-headlines, and about 500 words of sales copy. Then hire someone on <a href="http://www.elance.com">elance.com</a> to put it on a website for you (it&#8217;l cost you between $100-$500).</li>
</ol>
<p>Simple.</p>
<p>So why am I writing this &#8220;review&#8221;? Because Tim put onto paper a bunch of ideas/thoughts I&#8217;ve had over the past years/months. Because I&#8217;m planning my first extended trip overseas right now (because of the book). Because it&#8217;s something you should read. </p>
<p>Because tons of people are reading this book right now but after they&#8217;re done with it, nothing changes. They just go back to their J-O-B and talk about how it would be cool if they could actually do what Tim talks about.</p>
<p>You Can!<br />
<font size="-1"><br />
PS. Please don&#8217;t come to me asking me to help you sell your idea unless:</p>
<ol>
<li>You&#8217;ve already done (or are willing to do) a significant amount of work on it</li>
<li>You&#8217;re willing to give me half of your business</li>
</ol>
<p></font></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Earlier today I did a <a href="http://www.whatscrapandwhatsnot.com/reviews/RevengeOfTheMiniNetReview.html">review of revenge of the mini-net</a>, the ebook.</p>
<p>I didn&#8217;t actually review it, I summarized it and added a bunch of my own advice and experience into the summary.</p>
<p>Within minutes of sending it out I got this email back from someone whos email signature includes</p>
<blockquote><p>SEO Specialist, [Company Name]</p></blockquote>
<blockquote><p>
John, this is the best SEO information I have read all year!!!</p>
<p>This is also some of the best info you have ever given to me personally!
 </p></blockquote>
<p>This is the reason I do the <a href="http://www.whatscrapandwhatsnot.com">internet marketing reviews</a>.</p>
<p>I like getting the feedback from people and I especially like helping people out.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re involved in SEO or in running your own business IMO (in this case is not an HO because it&#8217;s my own writing), <a href="http://www.whatscrapandwhatsnot.com/reviews/RevengeOfTheMiniNetReview.html">this</a> is worth reading.</p>
<p>Whoever you were who sent me the email (you know who you are), You&#8217;re welcome.</p>
<p>Note: I don&#8217;t claim to be the best SEO around. I&#8217;m not. So all you SEO experts can now feel free to call me an idiot after reading what I said about creating mini-nets.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I&#8217;ve sat quiet long enough.</p>
<p>The email I got this morning was the last straw.</p>
<p>But first, here&#8217;s why I&#8217;m posting this.</p>
<p>I buy a lot of information products.</p>
<p>&#8220;How to make a gazillion dollars in 24 hours&#8221;<br />
&#8220;How to get a gazillion links to your website&#8221;<br />
&#8220;How to build a gazillion person email list&#8221;<br />
&#8220;How to make gazillions off of adsense&#8221;</p>
<p>Some of them I buy to read at a later date. Some of them I read now.</p>
<p>Some of them have really good information in them.</p>
<p>Some of them are COMPLETE CRAP.</p>
<p>Because I buy a bunch of stuff, I have also been subscribed to a ton of<br />
internet marketing &#8220;guru&#8221; newsletters.</p>
<p>I get tons of emails every day from them.</p>
<p>You know who they are, because you get them too. The ones who tell you:</p>
<p>&#8220;Don&#8217;t just send sales pitches to your email list. Send them valuable<br />
information. And if you want to learn how to do this, BUY XXXXX!&#8221;</p>
<p>Then they proceed to send you an email every single day telling you to<br />
buy something.</p>
<p>It ticks me off, and I&#8217;ve had enough of it.</p>
<p>So, for a long time now I&#8217;ve thought about reviewing all these products.</p>
<p>The ones that are good, I&#8217;ll tell you I think it was good.</p>
<p>The ones that are bad, I&#8217;ll tell you it&#8217;s total garbage.</p>
<p>The ones that have some good info in them, I just might summarize the good<br />
parts of it for you so you don&#8217;t have to buy it.</p>
<p>I haven&#8217;t started doing this yet because I don&#8217;t have the time to do it, but<br />
the email I got this morning was the last straw.</p>
<p>It was an email from Joel Comm advertising another one of his 500 words sites.</p>
<p>Now, don&#8217;t get me wrong, I totally respect Joel. I know the guy is a genious, but<br />
the links he&#8217;s selling on these sites are complete CRAP.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t buy them!</p>
<p>Why?</p>
<p>Look at the most recent site:</p>
<p>http://www.499sites.com</p>
<p>IT&#8217;S A PAGERANK 0!!!</p>
<p>Who are these people?</p>
<p>They&#8217;re paying between $50-$100 for a link from a pagerank 0 page!</p>
<p>And whats worse, this page isn&#8217;t about anything!</p>
<p>How much help do you think a link from a PR0 page that isn&#8217;t about your<br />
topic is going to help you in Google OR Yahoo (Ok, so MSN is stupid, it might<br />
help you there&#8230;).</p>
<p>IT WON&#8217;T.</p>
<p>But it gets worse!</p>
<p>On 499sites.com I clicked on the blog link and find a page that has a huge<br />
testimonial from Michael Cheney saying how much of a genious Joel Comm<br />
is with his software because Michael earned $21796.13 in the first 36 hours.</p>
<p>THIS IS SUCH A SCAM.</p>
<p>Of course Michael Cheney earned that. He set up a site, mailed it out to his<br />
list of people who trust him, and they all bought these garbage links.</p>
<p>And it still gets worse!</p>
<p>Joel is selling the software for these sites to people like you and I.</p>
<p>How in the world do you think you&#8217;re going to make money with these sites<br />
unless you have an email list of 50,000 webmasters who don&#8217;t really know<br />
what they&#8217;re doing?</p>
<p>YOU&#8217;RE NOT!</p>
<p>Ok, ok&#8230;ok</p>
<p>Enough with the rant.</p>
<p>But you get it now.</p>
<p>If you want to buy links to promote your website, buy them from a site that&#8217;s<br />
at least somewhat related to yours. Or, at least buy them from a high PR<br />
site.</p>
<p>So, I&#8217;m going to start a newsletter for this:</p>
<p>http://www.whatscrapandwhatsnot.com</p>
<p>I won&#8217;t review every info product out there, but I&#8217;ll go back and review some<br />
of the ones I&#8217;ve read over the past year. I&#8217;ll tell you which ones stunk and<br />
which ones are great.</p>
<p>John</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Last night I finished &#8220;reading&#8221; Jeremy Palmer&#8217;s book on affiliate marketing.</p>
<p>I say &#8220;reading&#8221; because it took me about 15 minutes to get through the last 70 pages of it.</p>
<p>I bought it because <a href="http://newspapergrl.wordpress.com">Janet</a> said he&#8217;s an expert on building affiliate sites.</p>
<p>He may be an expert (I trust Janet), but his book stinks.</p>
<p>I didn&#8217;t get a single idea from it.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s basically a regurgitation of every other book on internet marketing that has ever been put out, except he left out the details.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s not exactly &#8220;High Performance&#8221; stuff in there. It&#8217;s really a basic guide to what affiliate marketing is. </p>
<p>I don&#8217;t understand why he didn&#8217;t just detail exactly what he does to do this stuff. </p>
<p>Why didn&#8217;t he talk about using joomla or drupal or some other cms to build sites.</p>
<p>Why didn&#8217;t he talk about the secrets of using PPC. Why not talk about the details and secrets of getting links to the sites. </p>
<p>Instead, he says that you can get traffic to your site using ppc and that seo is important.</p>
